With the ethnic violence back home and the language barriers in the city, nothing could come in the way of this gritty 19-year-old girl from Manipur realizing her political aspirations.

Benazirsana Yumkhaibam is a 19-year-old student, BA 3rd year, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts with history honors, an intercollegiate boxing and judo player, studying in MCM DAV college for women, sector 36A, Chandigarh. She is the daughter of Yumkhaibam Brajakumar Singh and Rajkumari Veemi Devi, from Malom Tuliyaima, Imphal West District, Manipur.

She polled 327 out of a total of 802 at MCM DAV, Sector 36, Chandigarh to become the college's president.

Even while canvassing, she focused on approaching the voters personally instead of taking the social media route. However, it was not all cakewalk for her.

Warmest congratulations to Benazirsana Yumkhaibam. We wish you even more success in the future.
