Chief Minister Singh emphasized that in addition to promoting Meiteilon (Manipuri), the state government has been actively working to preserve the tribal languages spoken in the region. Several initiatives, events, and programs have been launched to protect the linguistic diversity of the state. Maharaja Sanajaoba Leishemba, who has been a vocal advocate for the preservation of Manipuri culture, expressed his gratitude on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). In a tweet, he said, "The PM Modi government has allocated Rs 18 crore as the first instalment to promote our language, Manipuri, and script, acknowledging their usage in our Royal Chronicles for over 2000 years. We are getting very close to having our language designated as a classical language."
